7Trek on foot

A labyrinth of rock with paintings thousands of years old, reachable only on foot.

There is no road to Sefar. You walk in, with a mule caravan carrying the luggage and a Tuareg team that knows every pass on the plateau.

Up top are streets and “villages” carved in the rock, shelters painted with scenes of daily life, animals, dancers and archers, and at the end of the trail, the dunes of the Erg Admer to sleep under the stars.

What you’ll see

  • The climb onto the Tassili by the Akba pass
  • Tamrit and its valley of ancient cypresses
  • Sefar and Jabbaren, with their famous “Martians”
  • A night out on the dunes of the Erg Admer
